Changing my website?

I am thinking about changing my website.  Currently it is through Advanced Access.  Easy templete  system for me to use and has served its purpose.  Now I think I need to change.  I am having trouble linking my website to AR?  I know I can put it in my links, but I want it to be an icon on my front page and don't think I can do that?  Am I doing something wrong or should I change to a different provider/host?

Do you all have any suggestions?  All would be appreciated!

Thanks for your support.

If that's the only reason you want to change your website, it's not a good one.

Yes you can link an icon on your AR Profile page.  And, it's not BSafe BSure B4U Close. Get Educated by the Central Kentucky Home Inspectorsall that difficult.

I'll try to explain it.

Go to your "My Home" Page.

Click on the edit link at left side right behind "My Profile"

You can't edit the top part.  You CAN edit the heck out of the parts below.

Click into the "Why Audrey" box.

Click where you want the icon to go.

Click on the little green tree in the menu above the box.

Upload your icon file.  JPG

Fill in the description (Use good keywords as google sees these)  It's the little yellow box that appears when you hover your mouse over a picture on the internet, if that person was smart enough to use it.  Hover over my icon at right and you'll see the little yellow box pop up.

Click on the "Appearance tab"  Set your icon the way you want it.  Right - left - top - middle etc and select the right size settings you want.

Click on "Insert"

You now have your icon in your profile.

Next click on the picture

Then click on the little chain link in the menu bar above the box.

Type in the URL you want to link to.

Make sure it says "open in new window" under that.  You can give it a title but I never do.

Click on Insert.

You've now inserted your icon into your profile and linked it to your website.

Congratulations

It may not be quite as easy as I make it sound but it gives you the general idea and you can play with it until you get it right.

Good luck

Above at right is example of one of mine.  It's a GIF file so I had to host it elsewhere (on my file server) and instead of browsing for a picture on my computer just insert the URL where it is hosted.

Here they are on my profile.  Erby Crofutt, the Central Kentucky Home Inspector.

AND I want to thank you.  I knew it could be done, had read about doing it, but hadn't yet been motivated to do it.  Your post got me going.  I went and did it and then came back here to tell you how I dd it.

Thank you whole bunches!

When you're logged into your AA back office, you need to get to the point where you can edit your home page. Go to AR and copy the code of the logo you want to add. Once you're at the home page editor, click on the insert custom button, then click on insert custom source code, paste the code from AR, then click insert source. Save your changes and it will appear where you had put your cursor, so make sure you put it where you want before you copy and paste the code.

Hope that helps! :)

Many web sites Audrey to use out there from your broker's, Point2, TopProducer, realtor.com, custom developed, #1Expert, etc. It depends what you are trying to accomplish that the current one is not providing you. I know there are a lot of web site experts on Active Rain so I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

Well duh!  Did I read your post wrong or what.

NOW I see that you want to put the AR icon on your websites homepage, not edit and have your website icon appear on your AR Profile page.

Duh!.  Thanks anyway for inspiring me to fix my profile.

You can save the AR logo/icon to your computer by right clicking on the AR Logo at top right.

From there, I don't know how you edit your front page and add a picture (like the ones of you and your assistant.

But I'll be your provider will tell you how to add a picture and make it a link to your AR profile

Your AR Profile url is:    http://activerain.com/audreyforshey

If that helps!

Troy,  Thank you, I will investigate Top Producer.  I use it as my database management system

Erby, Thank you, I am going to my AR profile set up and go through your process step by step.

Pam, Good suggestion, my assistant is pretty savvy with this stuff.  We just need AR time to sit down and figure it out together.

Gary, Thank you as well.

Kathy, you are so funny, I'm getting more coffee too!

Audrey - How much money do you have to spend on a new website? Point2 is a great freebie. If you want to go top of line, I think REW is creating some of the best real estate websites out there right now, but they are expensive.

Audrey, I also have an Advanced Access website and I managed to link AR to it.  I couldn't figure it out and another member (who also has an AA website) talked me through it.  Unfortunately, he did it over the phone and I can't remember how we did it.  But I remember thinking OH DUH!!!

Is this is only reason you're thinking about getting a new website?  I've been pretty happy with my AA website but thinking about looking around at others to compare.  I own my domain name(s) so that won't be an issue if I make a change.

Audrey - I have an Alamode/AgentX site...  I couldn't get the link on the front page of mine either, I called them up and they took care of it for me.  Give your provider a call, it might be an easy fix.

I highly recommend that you switch to an RSSPieces blogsite!  You can provide all of the property searches etc. plus you can blog.  It is very affordable and I am amazed at how my page ranking has risen in just 6 months! I won't put a link here but encourage you to check mine out!
